Summer 2020 Catch up Level 2 Bikeability

Due to school closures, some Year 6 pupils missed the opportunity to train to Bikeability Level 2, we are able to offer this training to pupils who have just left primary school in some locations. For Level 2 training, you must be able to cycle already and control your bike, you also need a roadworthy bike and helmet to take part. Training begins off road to check skills then quickly moves onto quiet local roads to build skills and confidence.

Level 2 training is being delivered over 2 x 2.5hour sessions with six riders and two instructors.

What to bring

Your child will need to bring a roadworthy bike to use and helmet, please note that instructors are not currently allowed to adjust helmets, therfore parents should ensure it fits correctly. Also, make sure they bring weather appropriate clothing, a drink and snack, we will be riding even if its raining.

Cost

Level 2 courses are FREE for young people who live in Swindon.  A REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT of £10 is requested to secure your booking.

Safety during COVID-19

The Bikeability Trust (our professional body) have been working with the Department for Education to lay out strict safe systems of work to enable training to take place. Our updated delivery guide and risk assessments provide for smaller group sizes to allow adequate distancing and all training takes place outside. Instructors and riders will maintain 2metres social distancing at all times. Hand sanitizer will be available.

Your child must be well and not suffering from any COVID-19 symptoms or living with anyone who is symptomatic.  By booking training, parents are confirming that their child can understand and abide by social distancing rules and will follow the instructions of the course leaders; we reserve the right to terminate a session / course early if the course leaders feel it is in any way unsafe to continue.
