Heather Pugh is our Inclusive Cycling Manager and co-ordinates our Bike Minded project.
How are you connected to Life Cycle?
I've worked for Life Cycle for - coming up to four years - on our inclusive cycling projects.
What's your earliest cycling memory?
The first time my stabilisers came off, trying to cycle round the garden attached somehow to the rotary washing line... and being quite scared.. probably not the best intro to cycling!
What was your first bike?
Must have been one of my brother's old hand me down bikes - which was far too big for me!
What would your dream bike be?
A light fold up bike that felt like riding my mountain bike... maybe in a nice bright green colour.
What are your favourite cycling routes in Bristol/UK?
I really like the loop to Clevedon - think that's my favourite route from Bristol. I also love doing National Cycle Network routes over several days - C2C, Bristol to Padstow, Lon Las Cymru... it's a great feeling of achievement clocking up the miles and cycling through bits of the countryside you've never seen. And cycling around the Forest of Dean encountering deer, wild boar and buzzards.
How long does it take you to fix a puncture?
Depends how easily I can get the tyre off.. anything from 10/15 mins to half an hour...or longer!
If you could wave a magic wand, and make something better about cycling, what would it be?
Getting rid of cars as we know them and having just cycle lanes everywhere...you'd have cycle cars and cycle buses..
Who would your ideal tandem partner be?
Chris Packham or David Attenborough ideally.. but probably I should say Ceridwen ;-)
What's your favourite pre/post cycling food?
A smoothie beforehand, and a well-earned nut roast dinner after.
What's your best cycling related joke?
I want to say this one...
Q What's the hardest part of learning to cycle?
A The pavement
...but think my cycle training colleagues may not approve...so this one..
Q Why can't a bicycle stand up on it's own
A Because it's too tired...
