Buy a bike online

During the COVID-19 outbreak, we are selling our refurbished bikes online via eBay, with collection from our Bristol-based workshop.

Our bikes are sourced through our "Bike Back" project: We take donations of unwanted bikes, which are then stripped down and refurbished by prisoners at HMP Bristol as part of their bike mechanic training.  Once the bikes are running like new, they are thoroughly safety-checked by our qualified mechanics and sold at affordable prices.  All income goes back into the project to help prisoners gain employable skills and a City & Guilds qualification in bike mechanics.

For full terms and conditions of sale, please read our FAQs section below.

Please note, we are experiencing an unusually high level of demand for refurbished bikes. Please bear with us - we are working hard to process sales as quickly as we can.

Frequently asked questions

How does the collection system work?

Step 1:  Visit our eBay store, choose your bike and pay for it online.

Step 2:  We will contact you via eBay to arrange an appointment for collection. Please do not come to the workshop without an appointment.

Step 3:  We will also send you a code. Your bike will be locked up outside our workshop during the time window we have given you. Use the code to unlock your bike.

Step 4:  You can “test ride” your bike around the carpark. If you are happy, please leave the lock behind and take your bike home.

What if I arrive and the bike isn’t right for me?

Please lock the bike up securely and then contact us through eBay to explain the issue. We will issue you a full refund.

What if I arrive and there is something wrong with the bike?

Please lock the bike up securely and then contact us through eBay to explain what you think is wrong. We will either:

a) Fix the bike as soon as possible and email you with another collection window.
b) Issue you with a full refund – you are welcome to purchase another bike online.

Please note: For safety reasons we can’t issue refunds, swap bikes or fix bikes in person on the day.

What happens if I can no longer make my collection day?

Please contact us via eBay as soon as possible and let us know. We will arrange another collection date.

Can I just turn up to buy or collect a bike?

For safety reasons customers should not turn up outside their agreed collection window. To protect our staff and other customers, we reserve the right to turn away anyone who does this.

Is it safe to collect my bike?

Our primary focus is to protect the health of our staff and customers. Our staff are following Government guidelines, including strict cleaning and social distancing measures. All bikes are handled with gloves and will be fully disinfected before being locked up for collection.

We are confident that providing collection windows will reduce the chances of customers coming into contact with anybody else. If someone else is collecting their bike when you arrive, please keep a safe distance of at least two meters at all times.

Help us stay safe: Please do not enter the workshop for any reason at any time.

What happens if something goes wrong after I take the bike away?

We have a 30 day, no quibble guarantee. Please contact us via eBay as soon as you notice the problem and we will either:

a) Arrange to fix your bike for you.
b) Give you a full refund upon the return of the bike.

How can I get in touch?

Our workshop is closed to the public so if you need to get in touch for any reason, please do so via the "contact seller" option on eBay.
