We're more than a bike shop!

The Bristol and Derby Hubs are part of Life Cycle, a cycling charity that helps people from all walks of life to benefit from cycling. We take donations of unwanted bikes from the public and fix them up to run like new.

We believe in quality craftsmanship: We’re a City & Guilds-accredited training centre for cycle mechanics, and our team is dedicated to giving a first-class service to our customers.

We also love to use our skills to help others. Our Bikes Beyond Bars project trains prisoners as professional bike mechanics, so they can earn a qualification and build a brighter future upon release.

“Most people need a positive purpose in their life. Feeling useful. And if you’ve got that, re-offending doesn’t come into it. You’re too busy fulfilling your potential. It’s about opportunity and then purpose.
Sometimes ex-offenders come out and they’re just doing the loop and nothing’s breaking that chain for them.
Bicycles for me completely raised it to another level. With a bit of pride, I tell people “I’m a bicycle mechanic now – a real one, you know, a proper one”. That’s enough to keep me on the straight and narrow” – Andrew, ex-prisoner who learned bike mechanics in our workshop.
