How ‘Bike Minded’ got creative this November

Bike Minded T-shirt competition

This month, friends of Life Cycle got creative for our t-shirt design competition. Contestants were asked to come up with a cycling themed design, with the winning entry to be printed on a batch of Bike Minded t-shirts, tea towels and tote bags.

We had tons of wonderful entries. Huge thanks to everyone who took part: the judges had such a hard time selecting a winner they ended up picking two!

Stacey, a Bike Minded participant was over the moon that her quirky design of a brain riding a bike won:

The group, staff, volunteers and riders have meant a great deal to me in my recovery. I am so happy that I was able to design the logo that won!!’.

Our other winner was Polly, one of Bike Minded’s regular ride leaders with a bike parts heart design. If you would like to purchase a t-shirt, tote bag or t-shirt in time for Christmas, contact Viv. T-shirts are a suggested donation of £12. All proceeds go towards helping people experiencing mental health issues to improve their wellbeing.

T-shirt printing at SPACE

SPACE, a creative space in Old Market, kindly offered Bike Minded riders the opportunity to attend a screen-printing workshop. After a relaxing bike ride, the group printed the winning designs onto t-shirts, hoodies, tea towels and tote bags. They had a brilliant time learning the screen-printing techniques, and were very proud of the Bike Minded themed kit they finished up with.

Fundraising Film Night at Salt Café

On 23rd November the Bike Minded and Over 55’s projects hosted a movie night fundraiser at Salt café. They watched ‘Belleville Rendez-vous’ – a wonderful film about a cool cycling grandma and her dog who must deal with the French mafia after they kidnap her grandson.

There were delicious nibbles, mince pies and popcorn and the new Bike Minded t-shirts, tea towels and tote bags were on sale to raise money for the project. Almost no one went home empty handed as the night finished with an exciting raffle! Thanks to the generous donations of local businesses, we were able to give away some amazing prizes.
