Bristol ride of the week 1

Woman riding over bridge with child in tow

A quick note on riding during COVID-19 conditions

At the time of writing (14th April 2020) people are being encouraged to leave the house for exercise once a day - provided it is either alone or with people from their household.

We hope that anyone who wants to cycle is able to. We understand that there may be some confusion about what is allowed under Government guidelines - and what is safe, depending on your health status. Our advice is:

  1. Regularly check the Government guidelines.
  2. Consult Cycling UK's excellent, always up-to-date advice

Finally, please remember to leave at least two meters between yourself and anyone else at all times. This will mean hanging back or even stopping to allow a safe space to be maintained.

Now here's the ride...

Frome Greenway explore

Level:

Easy, a few small inclines but mostly flat and off road

Distance:

7 miles

Start Point:

Old Market

Route:

  1. Follow the Frome Greenway from the city centre along the river Frome, passing Easton and into Eastville Park.
  2. Then along to Stoke Park - a perfect spot to lock up your bike and go for a walk in Heritage Woods to look at the bluebells.
  3. For a bit of variation on your way back, instead of going back through Eastville Park, follow signs for Snuff Mills and continue along the river, this leads to Oldbury Court Park.
  4. Exit park towards Fishponds Road and join the Bristol to Bath path near Morrsion's to head back into town.

Maps:

The route is signposted all the way.
You can download a GPX file. This can be used on a GPX reader app on your smart phone.

Notes:

Some parts can get a bit busy which made keeping 2 meters away from everyone a bit tricky. Please slow down or stop until there is space to take a wide berth around people walking / other cyclists, etc.

Ride safe everyone - and please only ride solo or with people from your household.
