Welcome to Life Cycle's August newsletter. Far from it being a quiet month, see below for details of Bristol's first ever cycling film festival and All Abilities cycle project for people with a disability, as well as learning how you can promote cycling using butter...

Help Two's Company win £2,000!

Two's Company is our programme of tandem rides in and around Bristol for people who are visually impaired or have another disability which means they can't cycle independently. We have entered Two's Company in the Kerrygold Community Awards, and with your vote we could win £2,000 towards this valuable project. To vote you need to:
1. Buy a pack of Kerrygold butter.
2. Go to www.kerrygoldcommunityawards.co.uk and click on 'Enter your code'.
3. Enter the unique number on the pack and vote for Two's Company.
You can vote until the end of August, and we find out if we've won in September.
Thanks for your support!

Bike maintenance for beginners this autumn

The autumn dates for our popular Know Your Bike maintenance for beginners course are now available on our website. The cost is £15 per person thanks to a subsidy from Bristol City Council. Courses run either on Saturdays (one day course, starting at 9.30am) or on weekday evenings (spread over two weeks, starting at 6pm). Book early to avoid disappointment: online or by calling 0117 353 4580.

Bristol Cyclescreen festival
Life Cycle's Two's Company project will be doing a Q&A session at the Watershed at 6pm this Friday 6th August as part of Cyclescreen, Bristol's first cycling film festival. We'll be talking about the project before the film 'The Way Bobby sees It', an inspiring documentary about Bobby McMullen, a blind competitive mountain biker on a mission to race the most demanding downhill course in the USA. Give us your unwanted bikes!

We need your old bikes so we can refurbish them for our Bristol Prison Bike Recycling project and increase cycling levels across the city. If you have a bike which is gathering cobwebs in the garage, why not clear a space and give it to us? There are various collection points around Bristol - see our website for details.
