Know Your Bike courses - now here! Know Your Bike courses - now here!

Who is it for?

Those new to cycling who want to keep their bikes in good shape and gain confidence in making basic adjustments and fixes. The workshop is also suitable for more experienced cyclists who have no previous experience of bicycle maintenance

The course is more about keeping a bike ‘healthy’ rather than treating it when it is ‘sick’! If you want something more advanced than this, try our  BMW (bike maintenance workshop).

What does it cover?

  • Fitting and sizing, ergonomics.
  • Cleaning & oiling routines.
  • Basic M-shape check (M-shape check is a routine for checking the condition of your bike).
  • Fixing punctures.
  • Basic brake adjustments – only with multi-tool and hands! Changing blocks and cables is not covered.
  • How gears work + correct use of gears (cycling skills) .
  • Basic gear adjustments – barrel adjusters + understanding what limit screws do – no adjustments to limit screws and solving common gear problems such as erratic shifting and chain coming off.
  • Information on general cycling matters, safety, bike upgrades, etc.

What tools are available?

A multi-tool is the only tool used. The course is designed to be mobile (ie can be run anywhere), and no parts are provided.

What do you get?

A multi-tool and a copy of Bike Easy: Top tips and expert advice for the new cyclist (RRP £6.50).

Cost
